Hong Kong

I randomly came across a traveling blog. Specifically, there was a recap of the writer’s life back when she was in Hong Kong. Superduper long, I really don’t expect you to read through all of it.
And right after telling you that it is too long to read – I have a confession to make: I actually sucked it all down. Something engrossing about the writing that reminded me of my own roots. The vivid descriptions remind me of when our family lived in Hong Kong. Long long story… I’ll get to it one of these days.
I get asked by random Chinese-speaking strangers why I don’t speak Cantonese (as in, I prefer to speak in English rather than Cantonese given the choice). It is mostly about comfort level, given that I’ve spent many-a-years of my life in the mostly English-speaking city of Vancouver.
Yes, I am long long overdue for a trip back.

I’d like to read that blog entry but you have convinced me to allocate a chunk of time and I haven’t done that yet.
Would love to read about your HK experiences when you lived there. I love Asian-American/Chinese stories.
